Charles Shand, BA in Exercise Science, NASM certified

Health & fitness truly saved his life.  The shy insecure kid liked sports since he was 5 years-old, but hated competing because he hated feeling the pain and humiliation of losing.  As a 6th grader, he started to train and ended up discovering a passion and an empowering hobby.

Through his commitment to exercise, he learned to lose, win, fall down, and get back up again.  In this way, sports and fitness have been one of his greatest teachers.  While Shand found his way through trial and error, he believes the more efficient way to achieving goals is by having a plan, taking action, and persevering day after day.

Finding a good coach or teacher can be invaluable.  As a coach, one of the biggest struggles he sees with athletes is their lack of patience and the diligence to practice the fundamentals.  His goal is to nurture that deep-rooted passion within each of his clients to strive for the highest level, which in the end will make them into better human beings, more tolerant of themselves and others, along with all the other benefits of health and fitness.

Currently Shand teaches spinning at Revolutions Fitness in Santa Monica, California, in addition to teaching athletic training for cyclists, martial artists and those seeking general fitness.  The Arizona State University graduate is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine.  He has been training clients and athletes since 1988.
